Here is an exerpt from my blog on Sac-a-lait fishing, also known as crappie fishing:
"How Ya'll Doing? This is Jim from Louisiana Cajun Community. The sac-a-lait fishing is starting off Great! Sac-a-lait, Mr. Bass, and Stripper Bass are all spawning at one time. Last year during the short flood we had, the stripped Bass came in out of Ouchita River Flood Time by the 1000s. These stripper bass are murder on sac-a-lait fishing tackle, the 10-12 ft. Graphite Poles that cost up to $100.00 each. Me and a friend went up to the short end of Lake Lafourche for a day of Crappie fishing. My buddy Joe threw out a Little Fishie bait in the hydrilla and Bam, the water exploded and the fish broke Joe's Graphite crappie pole at once. He is reeling in the line hand over hand. I got the dip net ready. It's a big ole stripper Bass, he weighs out 11 3/4 Lbs. No wonder he broke Joe's $100.00 Pole. After 4 more poles we change bait and go to an orange and green Bobby Garland Tube bait . Then we proceed to work on the Sac-a-lait real good, yeah. Three hours later we count up and we have 46 Sac-a-lait from 3/4 to 2 1/2 Lbs. You know it is hard for me to understand how so many Stripper Bass come up in Lake Lafourche in so short a flood time last year! I talked to a fisherman who said he had the gears stripped out of his four favorite Bass reels in one day by the stripped Bass, but the fun was worth it. He only landed two of the smaller ones, that went better than 11 1/2 Lbs. each. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. Till next time. Jim The Cajun Boy "
